Why convert HEIC to JPG?
Send to Windows or Android friends
JPG works everywhere. HEIC fails to display on most non-Apple devices unless an extra codec is installed.
Upload to platforms that block HEIC
Many CMS dashboards, Twitter/X, Slack, and email clients silently reject HEIC uploads. JPG sails through every gatekeeper.
Print photos at a kiosk or online lab
Most online and walk-in print services still require JPG. Drop your HEIC here, take the JPG to your print queue.
About HEIC to JPG conversion
HEIC is Apple's High Efficiency Image Format, used by iPhones since iOS 11 (2017). It uses HEVC compression to store photos at roughly half the file size of JPG with similar visual quality. iPhones default to HEIC because Apple controls the entire pipeline — capture chip, storage format, display engine. Outside the Apple ecosystem, support is patchy: Windows requires a paid HEVC codec from the Microsoft Store, older Android phones can't display HEIC at all, and many web platforms reject the upload outright. JPG is the universal lingua franca of digital images — every browser, every operating system, every printer reads it. The trade-off when converting is roughly 2× larger files in exchange for 100% compatibility. At quality 85, the visual difference between HEIC and the resulting JPG is imperceptible at normal viewing distances. For photos you intend to share, print, or upload anywhere outside the Apple bubble, JPG is the safer format.
